December 15: Tequila, Wine, Gravity Summit and SMCLA!

Gravity Summit

What do tequila and wine tastings, guest speaker Carrie White, our friends at Gravity Summit and SMCLA have in common? They’re the ingredients to this year’s holiday party!

We have partnered with the wonderful Beverly Macy and her Gravity Summit team for a wonderful evening at the Luxe Rodeo Beverly Hills on Thursday, December 5th. A portion of your $10 ticket goes to Toys for Tots – so log into Eventbrite and buy your ticket!

This is also the kick-off event for Gravity Summit’s fourth annual Social Media Marketing Conference on Sports and Social Media. If you haven’t attended, this is your chance to get to know the group and consider attending the conference. (Use the code: EARLYBIRD and get 50% off your registration.)

Now, you’ve seen SMCLA in action this year. You’ve met us at BlogWorld LA. You’ve heard some of us speak on panels. Now let US meet YOU at the holiday party. Tell us what you would like to see or hear next year on our panels. Tell us who your favorite social media resources are. Tell us you want to volunteer with us!

Or… just show up and enjoy! No pressure. Bring a friend; make friend; be a friend and stop by.

Networking Parties at BlogWorld LA

BlogWorld Expo 2011 - Los Angeles

As we get closer to BlogWorld LA, check our Twitterfeed at @smc_LA and our Facebook page for livetweets during the three-day conference. Meet our SMCLA Board members as well as SMC National’s Board members.

Don’t forget to use the code “SMC20” to take 20% off your conference day pass.

If you can only visit the EXPO, use the code “SMC50” and take 50% off your EXPO-only pass.

Stop by our Expo booth on Friday and/or Saturday, and meet us in person! We’re always looking a for a few good volunteers to help us with events, programs and guest posts.

Whether you’re heading to the LA Convention Center for the full three-day effect or spending a day at the Expo, don’t forget to bring your business cards. Sure, the nerdoratti may prefer to connect by Bumping, Flicking or scanning your QR code, but old school business cards still work. (I like to write notes on business cards: how I met you, where I met you, your interests, follow-up notes.)

You are invited and welcome to the BlogWorld LA networking parties with any BlogWorld pass. This includes the EXPO-only pass. Mark your social calendar this week with the following parties:

Attend the Social Media for Nonprofits Conference – Guest Post by Social Media For Nonprofits

This guest post is brought to you by our partners at Social Media for Nonprofits. Do you know of a nonprofit organization that has been looking to add social media as a tool for communication and fundraising? The Social Media for Nonprofits team is holding an all-day conference on Monday, August 22nd at UCLA. They are also giving away two tickets to SMCLA members… read on!

Most of the members of the Social Media Club LA have businesses that keep them busy, but we also hear that some of you serve on nonprofit boards, or have side projects designed to make the world a better place. This post is for you, as well as those of you with nonprofit types in your networks.

Social Media for Nonprofits is a nationwide conference series that provides nonprofit leaders with the tools and resources needed to create, manage, and maximize their social media presence.

We’re heading to Los Angeles next Monday, August 22nd, with a program that will once again share practical tips and tools for fundraising, marketing, and advocacy. Our SF, DC, and NYC conferences were all sold out and received rave reviews, and we need your help to ensure a packed house at UCLA.

We’re giving away two tickets to the SMCLA members who get the most comments or likes on a Facebook post on our Wall, or who get the most ReTweets on a message with the #sm4np hashtag.

Come join us for a “Twitter Meets TED” format featuring top authors and experts, or you can just show up for the networking reception and book release party for Nonprofit Management 101. We’ve got top brass from Facebook, LinkedIn, and Causes, plus leaders of PETA, NTEN, and social fundraising platforms like Fundly and Razoo.

See you on the 22nd and please contact us with any questions or suggestions!
