What happens when you have digital marketing professionals from leading B2B brands like LinkedIn and Adobe in the same room talking shop? Besides the amplification generated from more than 80 guests in attendance, our event generated thought leadership, insights and an interactive discussion that engaged social media influencers around the globe and trended on Twitter.

Last night at Cross Campus LA in Santa Monica, Rachel Luxemburg, Stephen Gundee, Erick Brownstein, Eric Schwartzman, and Lauren Buchman brought their A-game with respect to best practices in B2B social media marketing. We couldn’t have done it without them!

The evening began with a call to action through the SMCLA Twitter feed. The first two guests to retweet a message from the @smc_la account won a gift from our friends at LinkedIn. The fast-fingers awards went to Michelle Magoffin and S.M. McDowell. Enjoy your T-shirts, and well done!

Overview

The ideal candidate is driven by a passion for technology, social media and marketing. He/she should enjoy working in digital advertising, planning/creating and attending events, writing, social strategy and be genuinely enthusiastic about social media. Candidate must be self-motivated and highly organized with 2-5 years first-hand experience at an interactive, marketing or PR agency or have significant experience in working with and representing brands using social media.

Duties

– Monitor/ Write updates to social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, G+, Blog and more).
– Foster community engagement and build relationships within social communities.
– Participate in special projects, or other duties as assigned.
– Attendance to community social media events.
– Planning and creating internal social media events.
– Ensure that community questions are addressed in a timely manner.
– Help run promotions, contests, and sweepstakes.

Requirements

– Bachelors or equivalent in Marketing, Advertising, Arts, or Communications.
– Knowledge and proven success in social media and content marketing strategy.
– Excellent writing skills and impeccable grammar.
– Experience in working with a creative team.
– Strong communication and marketing skills.
– Must be available to participate in events outside office hours.
– Organized, discreet, detail-oriented.
– Must have experience in blog publishing (Tumblr, WordPress, etc.).
– Experience copy-editing your own work.
– Experience with Photoshop or other photo editing software is a plus.
– Must work well under pressure and be able to multitask.
– Willing to get ICED in office, likely on semi annual basis.

Position

1) Full Time: Compensation based upon experience 40+ hours per week
2) Part Time: 10 – 20+ hours per week with full time potential

SMCLA Elections: Nominations Now Open for 2013 Board of Directors!

Dear Social Media Club Los Angeles Chapter Members:

It’s time to nominate chapter members to serve on the Social Media Club Los Angeles (SMCLA) Board for the upcoming year, which begins January 1, 2013 and ends December 31, 2013.

The goal of the Social Media Club Los Angeles (SMCLA) chapter is to serve our members and community through education, career advancement and peer networking, as well as recognizing and supporting the objectives of Social Media Club. Past year highlights featured Liz Strauss, Hayden Black, Zao Yang and Patrick O’Brien from Fox TV.

On November 13, we will be hosting a fabulous discussion on understanding the affects of social media mistakes on company reputations, Social Media Horror Stories at HubLA in downtown Los Angeles.

We are looking forward to finding and working with Board members who bring enthusiasm, teamwork and a fresh perspective to serving the Los Angeles chapter.

In order to facilitate a smooth election process, following are the most commonly asked questions about becoming a SMCLA board member:

Who can apply for nomination?
Any social media community member in good standing may apply. While we prefer that the candidate is current in registration and dues with Social Media Club (socialmediaclub.org/membership), it is not a requirement for the 2013 board.

It is also preferred that you have attended one or more SMCLA events. If you have not, but are still interested in serving on the board, please consider joining our promotions committee.

What are team leads?
Each committee will have a team lead who will help ensure each committee runs smoothly and to act as leader of each committee.

How long is the service term?
Officers will be elected on an annual basis and will serve a one-year term.

What are the duties and responsibilities of Chapter Officers?
Please see the descriptions on the attached nomination form.

How much time commitment is required?
We ask that you make a commitment to the Board and the chapter. Our goal is to conduct biweekly board meetings via phone, and require assistance by all team members to support each local event. We also plan to host a combination of educational and networking programs throughout the year. However, we have structured the board to ensure strong support for each committee.

Can I nominate myself?
Yes! Please do!

How will the Board be selected?
The nominating committee will distribute a slate of candidates in the form of a ballot to all chapter members the second week of December. Ballots must be returned to the committee two weeks later.

How do I get started!
We encourage you to become more involved in the Chapter and share your ideas with your Board. The first step is to nominate yourself or another chapter member to serve on the Board for the 2013 year.

Please fill out the attached Nomination Form and return it to socialmediaclubla@gmail.com no later than December 12, 2012.

We look forward to your participation in making the SMCLA chapter stronger and more vibrant by serving our membership with topical programs, networking and social events, as well as expanding our network of resources for discussion on all things social media, social marketing, digital related!
